Having failed to obtain my school certificate (SC), I wanted to quit school. However, my dad persuaded me to give it a second attempt to prevent future regrets about joblessness due to lack of opportunities. I managed to pass the SC but decided to conclude my schooling there.

I began working on a lorry, but quickly realised it was too physically demanding for me to handle. Upon my father’s advice, I enrolled in a hairdressing course. After its completion, I needed an internship and secured one at a reputed hair salon in Rose-Hill.

Coming from a small area, I was amazed to discover the level of hairdressing that existed in Mauritius. After gathering some enriching experience, the salon owner and I mutually agreed that I
needed additional training and exposure from other respected institutions.

I had set my mind on joining one in Phoenix, but on my way to the salon, something compelled me to enter the best salon on the island. I was fortunate to be selected there. It was wonderful.
However, after some time, I decided to take a break to reconsider my future.

I had been home for about a week when unexpectedly, people I didn’t even know started knocking on my door requesting haircuts. I accommodated a small space in my home to practice as a
hairstylist while waiting for my permit to be approved. From there, my solo journey began.

A complete stranger at the time—who is now one of the most important people in my life—helped me meet some influential models and photographers. This connection allowed me to showcase my talent on many notable figures, including Miss Mauritius.

I’m still far from achieving my goals, but my dream is to lead a team where each person has a unique talent and specialises in a specific area. It's of utmost importance to me to give young people opportunities to shine. Offering youngsters with potential the chance to show their worth is something I hold close to my heart!
