“I teach martial arts, sculpture and music on a weekly basis to some thirty pupils.  My responsibility as their master, is however, not restricted only to these.  I also instill mental strength and discipline in them so that they can stay strong even in the face of difficulties, fears and disappointments.

Though I may be their mentor, I was not always leading such an exemplary life.  You will be surprised to know that I was once addicted to alcohol and even marijuana.  Often under their influence, I would get into unnecessary altercations with people and unfortunately taking undue advantage of my Kung Fu skills.

All changed on one evening when I was chilling out with some buddies.  We jokingly proposed to stay completely sober for one whole week.  It was immensely tough for me, but I resisted my desires.  These painful seven days were finally over, but before I could gear up to again start partying, I was informed that my dad had been diagnosed with cancer.  This was in 2010.  I had to accompany him to India for treatment purpose.  Of course, I was emotionally moved, not only because of the cancer, but also due to the fact that I would not be able to booze when with him there.  I stepped up as a dutiful son to make sure that I’m there for my old man.  I survived that mission, lost my dad through the way three years later, but till today I have not tasted even a drop of alcohol.

My belief is that we all have potential but often, we waste it or fail to exploit same mainly because of lack of time, encouragement, dedication and even strong character.

By the grace of God, it’s been six years now since I quit boozing and marijuana.  Today my greatest pride and happiness lie in sharing my artistic knowledge with my disciples.  I am also able to manage my anger much more than expected.  My belief is that we all have potential but often, we waste it or fail to exploit same mainly because of lack of time, encouragement, dedication and even strong character. I therefore give my disciples a guiding hand to empower the will, and also to prevent them from seeing the dark side of life that I was once a member of.”
